6 Form. Attention!

Homework for Wednesday, 13.03.19: learn the rules how to use the Past Perfect Tense; read and translate the text about Trafalgar Square; write down different types of questions to the following sentence:

He had done his homework before his parents came back home.

Trafalgar Square is a geographical centre of London. It was laid out during the first part of the 19^th century to commemorate the naval victory of Britain, in which Admiral Lord Nelson took part and was fatally wounded. There is the Nelson Column with the statue of Admiral Nelson on the top in Trafalgar Square. At the base of it you can see four bronze lions which are guarding the Column. In the north of Trafalgar Square there is the National Gallery which exhibits all schools of European painting from the 13^th to the 19^th century and includes works by Van Dyck, Rubens, El Greco, Goya, Leonardo da Vinci and Rembrandt. Not far from Trafalgar Square there is a quite little street with very ordinary houses. It is Downing Street and for the last 200 years at Number 10 each Prime Minister of Britain has been living there.

PAST PERFECT TENSE

Маркери: by 2 o’clock yesterday – до другої години вчора, before he came – до того, як він прийшов (Past Simple – одноразова дія).

Форма речення.	Всі особи однини та множини I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they had V ed/III form
Ствердження.	He had played football before they came. She had written the letter by 2 o’clock yesterday.
Заперечення.	He had not played football before they came. She had not written the letter by 2 o’clock yesterday.
Питання.	Had he played football before they came? Had she written the letter by 2 o’clock yesterday?

Types of questions	Всі особи однини та множини I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they had V ed/III form
1.Загальне питання (G.Q.):	Had she played football before they came?
2.Альтернативне питання (A. Q.):	Had she played football or tennis before they came?
3.Спеціальне питання (S. Q.):	Who had played football before they came? What had she done before they came? What game had she played before they came?
4.Розділове питання (D. Q.):	She had played football before they came, hadn’t she?
