Ecological
problems of my native town
There are a lot of ecological problems
all over the world. Many parts of our country are overcrowded. People of many
cities suffer from factories, plants and electric stations. Much of dangerous
waste goes into the air and carried by winds for great distances. We pollute
air with smoke and gases, water - with industrial waste, soil - with chemicals.
Now we don’t know the virgin nature. A lot of people suffer from many dangerous
diseases.
And my native town
isn’t an exception. Bashtanka is one of polluted towns in Ukraine. It has a lot
of ecological and social problems, such as water and air pollution, mud and
litter in the town streets. What can we do to solve these problems?
To begin with, we
must protect the environment and not litter. For example, citizens of Bashtanka
have to throw garbage away into litter - bins and get people involved in
clean-up programmes. As a result, streets will be cleaner, than they are now.
Air and water
pollution is a big problem. Lots of exhaust fumes from cars pollute the air in
our town. If we want to change the situation, people should walk more or ride
bicycles, and our cheese plant mustn’t waste dangerous harmful substances
polluting rivers and air. Only then air and water will be cleaner.
One way to reduce
traffic is to improve public transport and encourage people to use it to
commute to work and to school. The result would be fewer cars in the town and,
consequently, fewer traffic jams.
To sum up, there
are many problems and many ways to solve them in Bashtanka. Applying just some
of these ideas will result in changing situation for the better in my native
town.
