LONDON
1. London is the capital of the UK.

centre of the country.
3. This city consists of four parts: the East End, the West End, the

4. The financial and business centre is called the City.
5. The shopping and entertainment centre is the West End.
6. The government centre is Westminster.
7. The East End is the centre where working people live.
8. The population is more than 8 million people.
9. The Romans founded a settlement on the river Thames 2000 years ago.
10. They called it Londinium.
11. London became a famous trading centre during Middle Ages.
12. Since that time it has continued to grow in size.
13. London is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
14. There are many sights in London.

some advantages and disadvantages. First, what advantages are there.
4. We don't have
to buy tickets, only petrol.
5. We don't need
suitcases, we can put our luggage into the car.
6. We can take
as many things as we want.
7. We can stop and
have a break practically anywhere we like.
8. We can spend
a night in the car or stay in a hotel.
9. When we
travel, we can listen to music in the car.
10. In cities
and towns we don't need public transport. We can go sightseeing in the car.

some words about disadvantages. Petrol is very expensive.

serious money to get from one city to another.
13. There are a
lot of traffic jams. It is very difficult to find a place to park in the city.
14. Some drivers
like speeding so driving can be dangerous for others.

16. As for me, I
like travelling by car for not very long distances.
17. My father is
a very good driver. He never speeds.
18. When the
weather is fine, we like to go to the nearest towns and cities.
